Within Brooklyn's ultra-orthodox Jewish community, a widower battles for custody of his son. A tender drama performed entirely in Yiddish, the film intimately explores the nature of faith and the price of parenthood.

I was linked to this after watching horror trailers. Came here expecting a horror film. OY VEY!

I very much enjoyed seeing the full film in a preview. The Yiddish adds much to the tradition. I hope that Jewish organizations like Chabad, Orthodox Union and Aish HaTorah will advertise MENASHE on their web sites, and use the film in their outreach.

Saw the thumbnail, thought "Hebrew, no problem!", trailer starts, "oh I forgot about Yiddish..."

Hang on a second are you telling me that in the Jewish culture a son can not live with his father even if the mother passed away????? That is just BS!!!

They both sound like cows. Cattle. I suppose if one was always useful, as if by nature, then one would never feel used. "What am I going to do, not help?" A person should not be looked upon as money : The molten calf made of gold - is that not a lesson to be learned from that story? "You cannot provide for him" - is that a valid excuse to deny custody?
so, Jewish widowers aren't allowed custody of their children if they chose not to re-marry? What nonsense?
