In Serbia H&M is considered medium-expensive. Here you can buy 3 coffees for 5$, not one, 3. you can make a family meal for 4 people etc.
64 garments????? Try 20...
Everyone go watch true cost and you that will change ur perception of fashion and the environment forever. This is the reason why I been buying Torrid only! they donate most of their clothes.
Pandit Gangadhar V M O N Shastri
well dumplings .74 cents a piece? so that's 4.44 dollars for 6, that's expensive.
"...eat, eat-thum!... EAT THIS WAGON OF MYSTERY CHICKENS!!!!!!!"
$1.75 ea is questionable cheap for flautas? Seems spendy compared to the yummy places we have around here
man that joe fresh shirt felt so dirty. but i make minimun wage and i need clothes to keep making it. wtf am i supposed to do?
As someone who works in supply chain management for a company that is pretty big on ethics (to a fault), that issue is much bigger than these companies. Just attempting to deny these kids entry to these factories will not work. This is a social-economic issue that cant be quantified by the overhead of massive corporations. However, more coverage of this nature is required to continuously bring these issues to light.
Great zombie jesus
The models-a girl named Christian and a girl named Elliot? Some parents are very confused-or do they have a brain-snap when naming their child?
The thing is, I don't want to buy cheap clothes made by slaves, but in a society dominated by social media there's pressure to constantly be wearing nice clothes, new clothes, clothes people haven't seen you in before. As someone who is constantly broke and has bad social anxiety, I feel the need to fit in and feel cool and the only way to do that is to buy cheap clothes.
Well, those 5$ for that dress if passed on to the working child would give him/her 3 days' worth of meal in that currency. Now if children in these developing countries were to be banned from working they need to be fed and educated, which many poor parents cannot afford to do so: why don't these apparel companies do that instead of acting as if they can cut down child labor overnight?
it's never as cheap as the commercial say it is
John Oliver, please do a piece on child marriage in America!
Is no one else wondering if they really sent those food to the companies?
i dont get the scene with the coke. was the man someone special?
stop flash fashion!! buy from garage sales and thrift stores! don't listen to this marketing garbage
and tell the truth John.... as I know you will.
Hey.... big fan, but what did you do with that food? I watched your food waste episode earlier this day and would hate to throw the hypocrite flag.
To the news people out here,
you know yourselves...
When you choose to start Botox,
do not have the doctor freeze your face
With a slight grin upon it.
it looks really creepy when you try to announce tragic news stories...
knock off the creepy grins while doing the really sad stories.
Go now practice in the mirror... Go NOW!!!
(a little public service announcement.)
what happened to,
"Look for the union label when buying a suit of clothes..."
Seems like only British journalists care about finding the truth...
64 items per person in a year?! That's more than I've purchased in the last 9 years!
I buy like 2 pairs of pants and 5 shirts in a given year
The dumplings are kind of expensive........
Yeah but if one company didn't do it, then another company would do it, to make it's products cheaper and more attractive....isn't a major part of the problem the lack of regulation, corruption and poor law enforcement in the countries themselves where these products are made...if every country in the world provided education and adequate human rights to it's people, then we won't have any cheap clothes to buy..
Kathy Lee Gifford is so full of crap. She didn't know?! Yeah right, you soulless b!tch!
The flautas and chicken were really not that cheap.
Buy your clothes used - or buy expensive to last. Don't let them keep doing this to helpless women and children. THANKS J.O.!!
I wonder if you take the work away from these children do you think those societies will support them. there is a very strange double standard going on here the companies should offer a healthy and safe work environment but I'm not sure it's as simple as it sounds
someone should deinterlace these videos before posting on youtube
God I love this man ... absolutely hilarious. He actually makes me want to stay on top of world affairs
Get out. Seriously, get out. Security, get her out from here, there is no way that dress is 24 dollars. GO F*CK YOURSELF !!
LOL- that little girl will be an epic actress someday!
Great! Now do one about the Arms industry.
Ok Elliot could be his daughter
*sees the guy in the plaid shirt graphic
DAN FROM COLLEGEHUMOUR WORKS FOR JOHN OLIVER?!
if companies really cared about the conditions in their factories, they'd oversee it directly instead of subcontracting. I honestly would rather pay an extra £2 for a t-shirt if they at least checked children aren't working there and made sure their factories are fire safe.
don't worry. now we've got trump, he'll cut wages and regulations so much it's cheaper to make stuff in America than in Bangladesh!
Lmao my favourite bit: "Inexpensive DVD!" raves Variety
What the Hector?
John Oliver needs to do an episode on universities not protecting rape victims
wonder where he got his suite
Mark Whalburg is freakin awesome.
This raises the question of where do these clothes end up and where and how are the materials for the clothing being made?
"Eat the wagon of mystery chickens" sounds like an option for punishment on a Japanese quiz show after answering a question wrong.
I like how he covers these issues but one problem he doesn't address is the impact consumer has in the market we want the fast changing fashion this is the price we pay.
praise living pot wdrcu naked survival leg legislation pack.
Meanwhile, a dress from DOLCE & GABBANA cost more than a yr's tuition... is it not sad that those who depend on such cheap/child labour are the poorer public themselves?
John's show is the greatest one right now, he has amazing material and better jokes than the other comedians and his delivery is fantastic!!
boy, thats depressing
