http://www.ted.com Sharing powerful stories from his anti-obesity project in Huntington, W. Va., TED Prize winner Jamie Oliver makes the case for an all-out assault on our ignorance of food.

Jamie Oliver is transforming the way we feed ourselves, and our children. Jamie Oliver has been drawn to the kitchen since he was a child working in his father's pub-restaurant. He showed not only a precocious culinary talent but also a passion for creating (and talking about) fresh, honest, delicious food. In the past decade, the shaggy-haired "Naked Chef" of late-'90s BBC2 has built a worldwide media conglomerate of TV shows, books, cookware and magazines, all based on a formula of simple, unpretentious food that invites everyone to get busy in the kitchen. And as much as his cooking is generous, so is his business model -- his Fifteen Foundation, for instance, trains young chefs from challenged backgrounds to run four of his restaurants.

Now, Oliver is using his fame and charm to bring attention to the changes that Brits and Americans need to make in their lifestyles and diet. Campaigns such as Jamie's School Dinner, Ministry of Food and Food Revolution USA combine Olivers culinary tools, cookbooks and television, with serious activism and community organizing -- to create change on both the individual and governmental level.

But does that mean that fast-metabolism people are privileged..?
Pro Bliss
This is a pathetic speech if you don't promote veganism
Teach the kids; of course ... Teach the Teachers ... Teach the PARENTS for God's sake!
One big problem is big pharma wants people to get and stay sick. That is good for their bottom line. You are talking about a HUGE paradigm shift, killing the sick care system and big pharma and turning the food industry on its head. What would happen if we had a nation full of healthy people??? Are you crazy??? You are preaching to the choir, brother. I'm all in.

BTW, Michelle Obama had good intentions ... she just went about it in the wrong way.
I am also convinced that most milk provided today is not healthy for you or your children. The big milk hoax.
Be Humble
I thought he will crack joke but damm he made it serious joke.

"How can you say something is low fat when it's full of so much sugar?"

I was here in 2017 November. Probably dead any second now :)

wow this got me.. good on ya jamie
How about getting over calorie counting and start looking at what certain foods do to your hormones particularly insulin. You don’t get fat from over eating. You over eat because your getting fat. Nutrition sciences have been morality, puritanical nut jobs and been playing science for 80 years. Gluttony and sloth are not science.Check out the work of Gary Taubes.
Damn fat people ruining things for everyone

You are right boss
He's wrong, he wants to tax you even more, but it's okay because he "saves lives". And as more people die, he'll be looking the other way and wanting even more taxes to fix his broken system.
manan dedhia
Even today, this is one of the most powerful videos advocating healthy eating... its bad enough we need to advocate this....
Michele Knewstub
Obesity is a symptom of avoidance

He is actually the biggest hypocrite around. He talks about healthy food but doesn't really promote it, in-fact he's promoted tons of terrible things in the past... He is the worst pop chef. He won't tell you about the ignorance of the dairy industry? What a joke. He had recipes with bacon in them on his site long after this talk, and he was still talking about 'campaigning' for healthier food...
fast eyes
fucking joke, paid by the dairy industry

Well I'm lucky cause I'm not having lunch at school but only at home!😁❤

He tried so hard and no one listened. Too difficult and too costly in the short term but would save the human race in the long run. Epitomises our laziness and selfishness.

So here's the thing that i'm 12 years old (I'm hungarian so sry for my english) and I think this man is more than just a chef. He is fantastic. I don't know what can i just saying, but I think this is our future and we need to change our life.
Peter Faber
"How can you call something low fat when it is full of sugar?" Great question. The thing is when you remove fat from food, you need to replace it with something.... It gets replaced with sugar and carbs.

"Low fat" made America obese.
David J
Meanwhile he ignores the simple science of weightloss...less calories consumed plus moving more..this is the science behind achieving the correct weight.
Matteo Ricci
Capitalism and workaholism fucking suck
Such great words from such a great man!!!
TJ Devereaux
Why is the audience laughing? This is a deadly and very serious problem, and they're laughing about it? I think the audience reaction is a perfect example of what Jamie is talking about in the first place, you shouldn't be laughing, you should all be ashamed of yourselves, and furious with your government for allowing this to continue for as long as it has!
Tony Stinnak
thats not a "normal" family...it might be typical for dumb lazy f's, but its not normal. no fat idiots in my family, or anyone i know...here in healthy maine.
Kubu Handmade
But they believe they are not obese they are curvy and beautiful :D . Because when u say obese everybody gets offended. Everyday I see a baby (not a kid) a baby maximum 2 -3 years old eating KFC drinking coca cola. All ppl are so modern working till 00.00 not even cooking for their babies anymore.
1,105 obese people have seen this video.

I think that these problems about our ignorance of food exist in most of the developed countries of the world. It's not absolutely preventable but we can cut out some unhealthy meals from our life by following videos like Jamie Oliver's videos. Just teach your children about healthy meals and keep them out of harmful takeaway or ready-cooked meals.

I love this message. I am moving away from bad habits. At work everyone looked at my salad and started laughing, throwing little comments here and there, saying I am "boring" for not trying real food. So I started eating badly so I could stop those comments. I gain weight, felt tired all the time (sleeping more than 10 hrs. a day because I didn't have the energy for anything). I am changing that now! Living the life we were meant to live.
Johnny B Yacono
The best I have seen.
Christine O
Love this man. What a hero!

You go Jamie!! Woohooo!!!
Света Смирнова
I absolutely like this idea. I think that healthy eating should become just normal everyday habit for people, and, eventually, for their children too. By the way, healthy eating is important not only in the problem of obesity, but in a variety of others.
Buffalo Bill
you could frame it: "if you were desperate" to talk about the "bad" foods.

I've been putting my mind to it..

if we're gonna think about healthy eating we should have people with eating disorders in mind.. so talking about "bad" foods is real unhelpful there.. there's not much support for people with eating disorders.. so it would be better to concentrate on helping people who need it as opposed to just those who do the wrong thing with their eating behaviour..

you know.. sausage rolls with little nutritional merit could be things people might resort to if "they were desperate".. this might be how to describe the relationship.

if you are looking for social contagion for getting healthy..

i tend to think of things like our home ec teacher wasn't cool enough to be putting forward persuasive messages.. so messages have to come from a credible source.. no offence to her.
Taura Helms
That coffin was scary. I should have suspected that they have grown so large. Wow, just wow.

I adore jools fish pie (so does Jamie, apparently he eats it with baked beans), I made it last night and the whole family devoured it......http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/fish-recipes/jools-fish-pie/
