What To Do With Discarded Sourdough Starter
When you refresh sourdough starter, a lot of the old, spent starter can go to waste. I wanted to do something with the starter. I searched the internet and found many recipes where people were turning their discarded starter into crackers. The tangy flavor of sourdough gives these crackers a nice bite. I used to follow the recipes, but now I pretty much wing it now, getting whatever cheeses catch my fancy and creating my own mix of spices. I don’t measure anything out; I just go by look, feel and taste. When rolling out the dough try to keep it an even 1/8 to 1/16 of an inch thick to ensure even baking. Bake at 350 for about 15-20 minutes checking after 10.

Here are a couple of the recipes that originally inspired me, but there are so many more out there.
