Easter Eggs You Missed In The Mandalorian Season 1
The Mandalorian has the production values and watchability of a Star Wars feature film, as well as lots of subtle references and callbacks to other Star Wars media. Here are some Easter eggs that even the sharpest-eyed Star Wars fans might have missed in The Mandalorian.
The Mandalorian takes place after the events of the original Star Wars trilogy and before the events of the sequel trilogy. There are a lot of different races from a lot of different planets interacting in the first episode, and many of them use their own distinct language. In a bar scene at the top of the first episode, a fearsome-looking man with an unruly beard beats up on a blue-skinned alien, the target our protagonist bounty hunter is after.
"Look at his glands. I bet we could sell them at the port!" subtitles tell the audience what the bully says in an alien language. The guy tries to pick a fight with Mando when he arrives, asking if his armor is "real Beskar steel?" The language he's speaking is Huttese, the language of the Hutts, a Star Wars race made most famous by Jabba the Hutt in Return of the Jedi.
After the Mandalorian captures and carts off his captured target to collect the price on his head in episode one, the prisoner makes small talk with the stoic, silent bounty hunter back on his ship. He even notes that he was "hoping to be free for Life Day." Then, he stops talking when he discovers Mando's other bounties frozen in carbonite, just like Han Solo in The Empire Strikes Back.
What's Life Day? It's the Star Wars universe's equivalent of Christmas, a time for celebrating and relaxing with loved ones. It was first introduced in The Star Wars Holiday Special, an infamous 1978 television variety show. It follows Chewbacca's family as they watch futuristic TV and wait for him to arrive for Life Day. The special ends with Princess Leia singing a Life Day carol. Keep watching the video to see all the Easter Eggs you missed in The Mandalorian season 1!

Real-Time In-Camera VFX for Next-Gen Filmmaking | Project Spotlight | Unreal Engine
Real-time technology is transforming the art of filmmaking, with next-generation virtual production tools coming to Unreal Engine. At SIGGRAPH, Epic Games partnered with Lux Machina, Magnopus, Profile Studios, Quixel, ARRI, and DP Matt Workman to demonstrate how LED walls can provide not only virtual environments but also lighting for real-world elements, so the entire scene can be captured in camera in a single pass.

The Untold Truth Of Grant Imahara From MythBusters
Out of all the members of the MythBusters Build Team, Grant Imahara was arguably the most capable at building stuff. Plus, the man has loads of connections to major motion pictures and tons of experience crafting combat robots. Let's geek out and discover the truth about Grant Imahara from MythBusters.
In 2010, Grant Imahara promised to build a part of television history and then he followed through on that promise. It all began as such things often do on Twitter. According to Entertainment Weekly, Imahara had noticed that Craig Ferguson, the former host of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, had taken to calling his Twitter followers his, quote, "robot skeleton army."
One thing quickly led to another. As Imahara told the Star-Advertiser,
"At some point, they put two and two together and said, 'He should have a robot skeleton sidekick."
Imahara would prove to be just the man to build it but there was a catch: The talk show host had to drive Imahara's Twitter followers over the magic line of 100,000. Ferguson quickly rose to the challenge.
According to Popular Mechanics, Imahara found his part of the deal considerably more difficult to deliver. He tinkered with the robot while shooting MythBusters, which meant precious little time for sleep and a huge rush to get everything done in time. Popular Mechanics reports that Imahara soon found himself in something of a bind with only one week before the deadline,
"He still needed to write the software that would make Geoff move, and build Ferguson's control box."
Despite his struggles with the project, Imahara managed to deliver on his promise big time.
The end result was Geoff Peterson, a snarky, remote-controlled skeleton. The creation became so popular it even has its own Wikipedia entry and ironically, that entry is significantly longer than Imahara's.
Ferguson absolutely loved Geoff Peterson. And shortly after Ferguson left The Late Late Show in 2014, Imahara took to Twitter to give fans a much-needed update on everyone's favorite robot skeleton sidekick:
"For everyone who's asked me 'What happened to Geoff?' I can report that he is safely with Craig in his personal office!"
And no wonder. Keep watching the video to see the untold truth of Grant Imahara from MythBusters!

How 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Created The Perfect Battle | 10 Minutes Of Perfection
The crystal cave battle from "Avatar: The Last Airbender" — that pits Aang and Katara against Azula and Zuko — is one of the best fight sequences of the series. It brilliantly incorporates the philosophy of the three laws of magic, which are guidelines for writing compelling magic systems from fantasy writer Brandon Sanderson. The battle of the crystal cave exemplifies how a well-written magic system can create exceptional storytelling. The scene also does a masterful job of using the fight to reveal character, using the action of the combatants to tell the audience more about each character.

Physicist Breaks Down The Science Of 10 Iconic Marvel Scenes | How Real Is It?
To celebrate the release of “Avengers: Endgame,” we had physicist (and lifelong comic book fan) Jim Kakalios take a closer look at the physics of the Marvel universe. Here he reacts to 10 memorable scenes from Marvel movies and rates them based on their accuracy. Find out what exactly quantum mechanics, time dilation, Einstein’s theory of special relativity, and spider silk tell us about the superheroes of the Marvel franchise.
Which weapon would you rather have in a fight: Thor’s Mjolnir hammer or Captain America’s shield? Hint: The answer has to do with the conservation of energy — and the sonoluminescence of vibranium. Dr. Kakalios breaks down the physics behind this and many other Marvel phenomena, including Shuri’s holographic car in “Black Panther;” Peter Parker’s spider-webbing train save in “Spider-Man 2;” the multiverse theory of “Doctor Strange;” the role of Pym particles and the Higgs boson in “Ant-Man;” artificial gravity in “Guardians of the Galaxy;” and Tony Stark’s cybernetic helmet and gold-titanium exoskeleton in “Iron Man.” He sheds light on why Carol Danvers doesn’t age from “Captain Marvel” to “Avengers: Endgame;” why the Space Stone is so powerful when yielded by Thanos in “Avengers: Infinity War;” and what’s with all the talk of quantum entanglement, quantum tunneling, and “quantum mumbo-jumbo” in “Ant-Man and the Wasp.”
Kakalios is the author of three books — “The Physics of Superheroes,” “The Physics of Everyday Things,” and “The Amazing Story of Quantum Mechanics.” He was a science consultant for Sony’s 2012 film “The Amazing Spider-Man.” Before that, he won an Emmy for his work as a science consultant for the Warner Bros. superhero film “Watchmen.” A physics professor at the University of Minnesota, Kakalios teaches a popular class that uses comic books to illustrate the principles of physics.

How Netflix's 'Extraction' Filmed A 12-Minute Fight Scene To Look Like One Take | Movies Insider
About halfway through Netflix's "Extraction," there is an action scene shot to look like one long, 12-minute take. To sell the illusion, Marvel stunt coordinator turned director Sam Hargrave strapped himself to the hood of a car to follow multiple car chases and then attached himself to a rope so he could capture a moment where two characters tumble off a balcony. Because there are no cuts, actor Chris Hemsworth had to do some of the most intense training of his career. Meanwhile, if you look closely, you might find the invisible cuts, or "stitches," that attach each shot of the sequence.
